What Do I Need To Build My First Website

Are you wondering how to start your own web project? Most people don't realize that building their own webpage is simpler than it seems. It won't be a grand, graphics perfect site, but it will get your point across to the world.

There are five things that you will need:

A computer with Internet
Text Editor (Preferably Notepad)
Somewhere to learn HTML code (Preferable Smart Boy Designs)
Place to Publish Your Site
Imagination
As you can see, you don't nee much. All it takes are a few simple tools, and you are on your way to making your first site. I will explain them in a little more detail.

Computer with Internet

So what kind of computer are we talking here? Well, basically any computer. As long as it has internet (it doesn't have to be high speed), any computer will be fine. You don't have to have some high end computer to make a simple, working site.

Text Editor

On your computer, you will need a place to compile all of your code. This is simple. If you have Notepad, which almost all computers come standard with, you are in business. Just remember to save your files as yourfilename.html

A Place to Learn Code

This can be easily done by just sticking here. You can also pick up a book or two from your local library. Feel free to check out the tutorials for more information.

Place To Put Your Site

You will need to find a place to publish your site. You can either publish on a free hosting company, which will have ads and you won't have a unique domain name, or you can get your very own site. I recommend PolarPhase for reliable hosting.

Imagination

This is the single most important aspect of building your own website. Why would people want to come to your site anyway if it is boring? It's up to you to spice up your home on the net!

I hope that you have found this helpful, and that you expand your knowledge of web design. Be sure to check out more articles on web design!
